Abstract
Diabetes mellitus is a serious chronic disease that occurs because the pancreas does not produce enough insulin (a hormone that regulates blood sugar or glucose). Urinary glucose is an abnormal condition in which glucose is excreted into the urine. So to find out, it is necessary to examine urine glucose which is generally used by the Benedict's method. The delay in urinalysis examination results in changes in results and changes in composition by bacteria originating from urine that is accommodated in non-sterile containers. The type of research used in this research is descriptive research, where this study aims to provide an overview of changes in urine glucose based on urine that is examined directly and urine that is stored for 24 hours in a refrigerator without using preservatives. This study used 20 samples with positive urine glucose results by Benedict's method. there was a decrease in the results of the +4 sample to +3 as many as 2 samples, +3 to +2 as many as 3 samples, +2 to +1 as many as 9 samples, +1 being negative as many as 6 samples. It is recommended for further researchers if they want to research about delaying the examination of diabetic urine glucose levels to use preservatives that can maintain urine glucose levels.
