Triglycerides are a type of fat found in the blood and various organs in the body. From the point of view of chemistry, triglycerides are substances that consist of glycerol which bind to fatty acid groups. Usually the levels of fat (triglycerides) in the body tend to increase with age. The older a person is, the body's metabolism slows down until fewer calories are needed, because diet has changed, laziness in exercising and lack of activity. Examination of triglyceride levels is one of the lipid profile checks. This study was conducted using a cross-sectional descriptive method with the aim of knowing the triglyceride description at over 50 years of age who had their doctor checked at the RSUP. H. Adam Malik Medan with a sample size of 20 patients. The examination method used was GPO-PAP using the Cobas 6000 device. After conducting research with the examination of triglyceride levels at the age above 50 years, the results increased by 60% (12 patients from 7 normal 40% (8 patients of 3 male and 5 female). For those over 50 years old to maintain and have their health checked, especially checking triglyceride levels to prevent narrowing of the heart arteries (atherosclerosis) due to increased triglyceride levels.
